Pocket Thesaurus — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 7 November 2026
This policy explains what information the Pocket Thesaurus app for Android and iOS ("the app", package com.conem.app.pocketthesaurus) collects, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. The app is published by ConeM Labs Inc. ("we", "us"). It adds to our general Privacy Policy; where the two differ, this policy applies to the app. Contact: support@conemlabs.com.
- The thesaurus, dictionary, history, bookmarks and flashcards work offline. Your searches, history, bookmarks and flashcard progress stay on your device.
- Word Arena (online games, the Daily Challenge, challenges, rooms and leagues) uses an online player account. Other players see your username, country flag, avatar and rating.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- You can delete your online account and its data at any time, in the app or at conemlabs.com/pt/delete-account.
1. What stays on your device
- Searches, history, bookmarks and flashcards are stored only in the app's storage on your device. They are not uploaded, and they are removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data.
- Floating thesaurus. If you turn on the floating thesaurus, the app watches for text you copy, or text you send to it with the "Thesaurus" option in the text-selection menu, so it can show synonyms in a pop-up. That text is looked up on your device and is not sent to us.
- Pronunciation uses your device's text-to-speech engine.
2. Optional features that use the internet
- AI vocabulary assistant. When you ask the assistant a question, the text you type (up to 100 characters) is sent through our server to an AI model provider (currently DeepSeek) to produce the answer. It is not linked to your name or email. Please don't type personal information into it.
- Worldwide Searches map. If you allow location access, the app stores the last word you searched with your location rounded to two decimal places (about 1 km) and the time. Other users can see these entries as points on a map showing the word and the area, not your name. The app keeps one entry per player, which your next search replaces.
- Word of the Day and Word of the Week. If you turn these on, your device subscribes to a notification topic so we can send the word. You can turn them off in the app's settings.
3. Word Arena online play
Information collected
- Profile: your chosen username, a country flag (chosen by you, or derived from your SIM or device locale), and your avatar.
- Game data: rating, level, statistics, achievements, quests, the words you have answered correctly (your Lexicon), and match history.
- Participation records: your entries in daily boards, leagues, challenges and multiplayer rooms.
- Safety data: reports you file or that are filed about you, and the players you block.
- Notifications: a push notification token for your device.
- Account and purchases: your Google account email (or Apple sign-in details on iOS) if you choose to link an account, and a purchase verification token from Google Play or the App Store when you buy premium.
- Links and installs: if you open a challenge or room link before installing the app, we read the Google Play install referrer once so the app can open that challenge or room after installation.
Why we use it
- To create and run your online account, matchmaking, ratings, leaderboards, leagues, challenges and rooms.
- To moderate the service, handle reports and blocks, and prevent cheating and abuse.
- To send notifications you have allowed, such as challenge and room invitations, league updates and Word of the Day.
- To verify purchases and restore premium.
What other players can see
Opponents and other participants can see your username, country flag, avatar, level, rating, league and public game record. Your email address, push token and purchase information are never shown to other players.
Nearby games with players next to you use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your device to connect directly to their devices. Nearby games don't need an online account and are not stored on our servers.
4. Advertising, analytics and crash reports
- Advertising. The free version shows banner ads and optional rewarded video ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and similar device information to show and measure ads, including personalized ads where you have allowed them. When you finish a rewarded video, AdMob tells our server so we can grant the reward. Premium removes banner ads.
- Analytics and crash reports. We use Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to understand how features are used and to find and fix crashes. This includes device model, operating system, app version, pseudonymous identifiers and usage events. It is not used to identify you personally.
5. Service providers
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: authentication, databases, backend functions, push messaging, Remote Config, In-App Messaging, Crashlytics and Analytics.
- Google Play Billing and the Apple App Store, with RevenueCat on iOS: purchases and purchase verification.
- Google AdMob: advertising in the free version.
- Google Maps: showing the Worldwide Searches map.
- DeepSeek and Meta: AI models used to generate quiz questions and AI assistant answers. For quiz questions only words are sent. For the assistant, the text you type is sent. No account details are sent.
These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and privacy policies. Some of them process data outside your country, including in the United States.
6. Retention
- Your online profile, username, rating and statistics are kept until you delete your account.
- Match results shared with other players expire within 24 hours.
- Daily board records are kept for 14 days, challenges for 8 days, and league records for 35 days.
- Your Worldwide Searches entry is replaced by your next search and deleted with your account.
- When you delete your account we delete your online profile, username, rating and statistics, league, daily and challenge records, reports, push tokens and your Firebase account.
- Analytics and crash data are kept according to Firebase's retention settings and are not tied to your username after deletion.
7. Your rights and choices
- Change your username, country and avatar in the app, and block other players.
- Turn notifications off in the app's settings or your device settings.
- Deny or remove location access; the Worldwide Searches map then stops recording your searches.
- Reset or limit your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device settings.
- Delete your account and data at any time, in the app (Play hub or Settings, then Online account, then Delete account) or on the web without the app installed at conemlabs.com/pt/delete-account.
- Ask what data we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by writing to support@conemlabs.com. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Word Arena online play is intended for people aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through online play. If you believe a child under 13 has created an online account, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and our backend protects access with Firebase Authentication, App Check and database security rules. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will also point them out in the app or in the release notes.
