Pocket Thesaurus — Terms of Use

These terms apply to the Pocket Thesaurus app for Android and iOS ("the app"), including its online word game, Word Arena, published by ConeM Labs Inc. ("we", "us"). They add to our General Terms of Service; where the two differ, these terms apply to the app. Contact: support@conemlabs.com · https://conemlabs.com. By installing or using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Summary

1. The app and your licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. We may update, change or remove features, word lists, question types, game modes, leagues or rewards, or stop offering the app or its online services, at any time.

The app contains open-source software licensed under its own terms. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences. Apart from that, you may not copy, modify, resell or redistribute the app or its word database, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows it.

2. Dictionary, thesaurus and AI content

• Reference content. Meanings, synonyms, antonyms, example sentences and pronunciations are provided for learning and general reference. We work to keep them accurate, but we don't guarantee that every entry is complete, correct or suitable for a particular purpose, such as an exam, legal or professional use.
• AI-generated content. Word Arena questions and the AI vocabulary assistant's answers are produced with the help of third-party AI models. They may occasionally be wrong, ambiguous or worded oddly. If you spot a bad question, please tell us at support@conemlabs.com. Only words are sent to these models to make questions; no personal data is sent.
• Limits. AI features have usage limits (for example, a limit on how many new quizzes can be generated per minute) to keep the service fair and affordable. If you reach a limit, the app will ask you to try again later.
• Floating thesaurus. The floating bubble and the "Thesaurus" text-selection option depend on your device and Android version and on permissions you grant. They may not work on every device or in every app.

3. Online accounts and usernames

• Age. You must be at least 13 years old (or older if the law where you live requires it) to use Word Arena.
• Guest account. The app creates an online player account for you automatically. You are responsible for what happens under it. If you uninstall the app, clear its data or change phones without linking an account, the progress attached to it may be lost and we may not be able to restore it.
• Linking an account. You may link a Google account (or, on iOS, a supported sign-in) to keep your progress. Linking is needed to appear on the global leaderboard.
• One account per person. Don't create or use several accounts to boost your rating, fill leagues, farm rewards or gain any other advantage.
• Usernames. Choose a username that isn't offensive, hateful, sexual, misleading or someone else's name or brand, and that doesn't impersonate us or our staff. We may reset or change a username that breaks this rule, without notice.
• Reports and blocks. You can report or block other players in the app. We review reports and may act on them as described in section 5.
• Deleting your account. You can delete your online account at any time in the app, or on the web at conemlabs.com/pt/delete-account. Deletion removes your online progress and can't be undone.

4. Virtual items and rewards

Playing Word Arena uses or earns energy, hints, streak freezes, points, levels, ratings, league standings, achievements and cosmetic items such as avatar frames ("virtual items"). Virtual items:

• are a limited licence to use a feature of the app, not property; you can't buy, sell, trade, gift or transfer them, and they have no cash value;
• can't be exchanged for money, goods or anything outside the app, from us or anyone else;
• may be changed, re-balanced, capped, reset or removed by us at any time, for example when a league week or season ends, when we change the game, correct an error, or act against cheating.

Some rewards, such as extra energy, hints or a streak freeze, can be earned by choosing to watch a rewarded video ad. Rewards are granted only after the ad network confirms the view, and they have daily limits. Nothing in the app is a lottery, bet or wager, and the app pays no money or prizes of monetary value.

5. Fair play and acceptable use

You agree not to:

• use bots, scripts, modified apps, automation, another person or any outside tool (including search engines or AI assistants) to answer questions during a live game, the Daily Challenge or a challenge;
• exploit a bug, manipulate game data or the device clock, or try to get around energy, reward limits, verification or the app's protections;
• harass, abuse, threaten or deceive other players, including through your username or room activity;
• interfere with, overload or try to gain unauthorized access to the app, our servers or the services the app connects to;
• use the app in a way that breaks the law or the terms of a third-party service.

If we reasonably believe you broke these rules, we may remove points or rewards, reset ratings or virtual items, remove you from leaderboards or leagues, or suspend or close your online account, without notice and without liability to you. If you find a bug, please report it to support@conemlabs.com instead of using it.

6. How Word Arena games work

• Ranked games. 1v1 and 4-player ranked games run on our server's clock. Your rating moves with the result, and a loss may cost energy. If you leave or lose your connection, the game carries on without you and is settled as if you had stopped answering.
• Opponents. So that a game can always start quickly, some opponents in ranked games, leagues and leaderboards may be computer-controlled players rather than people.
• Daily Challenge, challenges and rooms. The Daily Challenge gives everyone the same questions once a day. Challenges you send to a friend and private rooms you open with a code are visible to the people you share them with. The person who creates a room decides who to share its code with.
• Nearby games. Games with players next to you use Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on your device and need the related permissions. Their results don't count toward ratings or leagues.
• Results are final. Answers are scored by our server, including the time allowed for each question. The server's record of a game, a league week or a daily board is final, except where we correct an error.
• Availability. Online modes depend on our servers and third-party services and may be slow, paused, changed or ended at any time, including during a game.

7. Premium and purchases

• What premium includes. Premium removes banner ads and unlocks extra features described on the purchase screen at the time you buy, such as playing without energy limits, weekly streak freezes, replaying past Daily Challenges, detailed stats and cosmetic items. We may add, change or retire individual features over time, and we will keep the core of what you paid for while your purchase is active.
• Billing. Purchases are made through Google Play or the Apple App Store and are subject to their terms. Prices are shown in the store before you confirm.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in your Google Play or App Store account settings; uninstalling the app does not cancel it. If a free trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription when it ends unless you cancel before then.
• Refunds are handled by Google or Apple under their refund policies, except where the law where you live gives you other rights.
• Restoring premium. Premium is linked to the store account you bought it with. We verify purchases with the store, and premium features may stop working if a purchase is refunded, cancelled or can't be verified.

8. Advertising

The free version shows banner ads and optional rewarded video ads served by Google AdMob. Rewarded videos are always your choice and are offered behind a confirmation that names the reward. We don't control the content of ads or the sites they link to. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising data is used and how to limit personalized ads.

9. Notifications

If you allow them, the app may send notifications such as the Word of the Day, challenge and room invitations, league updates and reminders that your energy is full. You can turn notifications off in the app's settings or in your device settings at any time.

10. Third-party services

The app relies on services run by others, including Google (Firebase, Google Play, AdMob and Google sign-in), Apple (on iOS), RevenueCat (purchase verification on iOS) and AI model providers used to generate questions and explanations. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and they may change or stop at any time. Pocket Thesaurus is not affiliated with or endorsed by them.

11. Your content

You keep any rights you have in the username and other text you enter. You give us a free, worldwide licence to show your username, country flag, avatar, rating and results to other players and to use them to run the app. Don't enter anything you don't have the right to use.

12. No warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that the app, its content or our servers will be accurate, error-free, uninterrupted or available, or that games, scores, ratings, standings or rewards will always be correct.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, ConeM Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, progress, ratings, standings or virtual items, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the app in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $50. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and nothing in them affects the consumer rights you have where you live.

14. Apple App Store

If you got the app from the Apple App Store, these terms are between you and ConeM Labs, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) to you; to the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app, including product-liability claims, claims that the app fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer-protection claims, or claims that the app infringes someone's intellectual property. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or listed as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.

15. Ending these terms

You can stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it, and you can delete your online account as described in section 3. We may suspend or close your online account, or end your access to our servers, if you break these terms or if we stop offering online play. When your online account ends, your virtual items, ratings and standings end with it. Sections 4, 5 and 11 to 13 continue to apply after these terms end.

16. Changes

We may update these terms. The new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. If the changes are significant, we will also point them out in the app or in the release notes. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the courts located in Ontario, Canada have jurisdiction, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your local courts.
